History

           The Greyhound is the fasted dog in the world, and can reach speeds of over 40 miles per hour. The Greyhound is classified as one of the oldest dogs in the world. These dogs have been known in ancient egypt at the  time where pharos reigned supreme. The Greyhound was found in pictures and in sculptures inside the ancient pyrimids. It has been contreversal over the dog comming from the middle east but experts say they started out in egypt.

physical traits/ description

1.           the physical traits of this breed is the head is long and narrow and fairly wide between the ears. a good size muzzle in length.the ears are small and fine in texture, thrown back and folded, except when the dog is excited then they are pricked up a little. There eyes are drak, bright, intelligent, indicating spirit. the neck is long, muscular, without throatiness, slightly arched and widening ito the shoulders. the chest is wide and consistent with speed, fairly well sprung ribs, its back is muscular and broad. the back legs are strong and very powerful.  the tail is long,fine, and tapering with a slight upward curve. the coat is short smooth and in a variety of colors. these dogs weigh anywhere from sixty to seventy pounds.

what is the breed used for?

     The Greyhound was used for its speed for hunting small game and deer. the dog has a strong chase sense that makes it want to chase small things even squirrels.

Temperment of the breed.

     the greyhound is considerate and the like it better with older more considerate children. the dogs do not bark that much and they are very affectionate to the ones they love and trust. the dogs may be nervous or shy around strangers.

 these dogs are low maintenace and do not need alot of grooming these dogs are very good with not barking and they need alot of excersise. these dogs have a considerable amount of leg problems because of such small skinny legs. besides the leg problems these dogs are healthy and will live to be about twenty years old.
